Laurel brings nearly 30 years of marketing, research, sales, and client relations experience within the real estate, corporate and retail worlds. A home design expert, she has refined her eye for home design and trend spotting.
Her experience in real estate gives her a steely eye into house design trends. Her insights have been picked up by numerous journals and blogs such as Rocket Homes and Builder & Developer.
Laurel’s career in the housing sector began as a member of the marketing team at Burgdorff ERA, a boutique real estate firm with both a bricks-and-mortar and online presence. During her tenure, she developed a keen knowledge of both traditional and web marketing. She also honed her customer service experience and developed lasting client relationships.
Lauerl draws upon her vast experience to identify trends and design evolution as she works closely with designers and architects, and house plan draftsmen. Her personal role as a busy mom deepens her ability to understand and communicate how home design affects families’ lifestyles.
Laurel believes strongly in corporate social responsibility. She was instrumental in making sure we partner with charities with values consistent with our own, including Fisher House Foundation and more recently, Semper Fi Fund.
In fact, Laurel wrote all about her love for these charities and their values in posts on our website. Her passion for helping veterans and military families and providing them with a “home away from home” even got picked up by The Military Guide. And her tireless efforts to get the word out led to an article in the VA.gov blog about building a home with a Veterans Administration Purchase Loan.
In her spare time, Laurel loves spending time with her family, cheering at her kids’ games, cooking, sitting around the dinner table, hitting a really good flea market, and taking her favorite furry kid (aka her dog) for a walk. She is the vice president for the middle school PTO and a member of the board for her HOA.
