Yes, your house plan can be customized. There are several ways to do this

Redline changes directly on the house plan

Redlining is basically just drawing the change on the plan. This was typically done with a red pen by architects which is where the term came from. If your changes are minor, we suggest purchasing a reproducible set of house plans which comes with a copyright release. On this set you can redline (draw) your changes directly on the plans themselves. Then you make copies of the modified plans. What are minor changes? Generally we would classify things like moving or resizing a window or door, changing exterior finishes, removing a chimney or fireplace, etc as minor changes. You should of course verify any changes with your builder before choosing this option.

Local house plan modifications

Many home designers offer their homeplans in a CAD (computer aided drafting) format. There are usually local professionals or even your home builder that are using this same software and can modify plans for you. This option is sometimes less expensive than having the home designer modify the plans for you, but the biggest advantage is probably the time savings. It also gives youa little more control during the modification process as you can work directly with someone in your local area. If you do not see a CAD file option in the pricing schedule of the houseplans you are looking at, please give us a call and we can double check the availability. These CAD files are mailed on a CD in the format your local draftsman uses. (You need a lot of experience using a CAD program to be able to make changes)
