Jaren is right, some people have more money than taste. But, one of the advantages of paying for a custom home is getting what you want. So, while I recommend listening to the advice of your home builder, designer or other professionals in the industry... it is your home, and as Jaren said, you have the final decision.

Decision making. That's what building a new home is all about. It all starts when you choose a home plan, a lot, a loan officer, and then you'll have hundreds of other decisions thoughout the upcoming months. If you can't make decisions and live with them [literally, cause they'll be in your house] then building a new home can be quite stressful.
