About five years ago I met Justin when he bought a house from me.  He wanted to do some sweat equity on his home.  He really wanted to paint his house.  I really hate when people request to paint  If you were to buy a really nice car, would you ask if you could paint it?  Well, a house is worth a whole lot more than your car.  I asked Justin what he did for a living?  He told me that he was a computer programmer.  I asked him to help Jake build a web-site for my construction company, and in return I would lower the price of his home.  Well, make a long story short, Jake and I were very impressed with Justin's abilities.  Jake suggested we start an on-line home design service.  One thing led to another and we spent five years, lots and lots of money to get www.theplancollection.com to succeed.  We have also developed a door knob site, blind site and other sites for home products. 

I actually like when people want to trade services or products towards a home.  I would rather do something like that, than  to have people do sweat-equity.  Check with your builder about trading.  Maybe we could even talk about trading for your house plan.  Jake hates when I do trades, but I think it is kind of fun.  Enjoy searching for the perfect house plan.  It can really be a lot of fun.  In the next few days I will be talking about how to make building a home an enjoyable experience.
