Looking for Dream Home

Hello there,

My wife and I have been saving up to build a home for several years now, after living almost 9 years in a home that just doesn't suit our needs.  We've been to several online sites, such as e-plans, 84lumber, jimwalkerhomes, etc, but have not found one yet that suits our needs.  I've drawn a few sketches before, but I've been told it's best to find a house already designed that matches our needs, rather than hire someone to draw out blueprints from my sketches.  I was hoping some of you guys could help out.

We are an animal-loving family, and will not be having kids.  This means, we need space for animals, but we don't need space for kids.  I am a pianist, and have a grand piano that I would like to show off, possibly in some multi-windowed terrace.  We also have a beautiful antique set of formal dining furniture that would be nice to use (right now, it's in storage, it doesn't fit in our breakfast nook).  My thoughts on plans are as such:

A one-floor plan that has a nice master suite (garden tub, his/her sinks, walk-in closets, shower, large bedroom).  A kitchen that opens into a great room, and a breakfast nook.  A formal dining room, and living room.  The living room (where I would hope to put the piano) would need to be able to be shut off from the rest of the house, so as not to allow animals in there.  Then, I would like a guest bedroom that could remain closed off from the rest of the house (since we have relatives that are slightly allergic to cat dander), a small office for my wife to work at home, and then a room that can be used as a pet room.  The pet room would be nice to open up onto either a deck or mud room, so that when they're dirty, they won't track mud and such through the rest of the house.  We also have a large African Grey parrot that likes to talk and sing, and it would be nice if we had a sunroom to keep him in, so he wouldn't disturb people, but would also be happy.  It would also be nice for this house to have a basement, for recreation and such, but that's not really a necessity.  I know this is a lot of requests, but quite frankly, I really expected that it wouldn't be that hard to find a plan like this, and I've been disappointed so far.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

-Brandon

Daggerhart,

I'm sure we can find something that will fit your needs, even if it needs to be modified a little bit.  Changing an existing home plan, as long as you don't change everything, is still less expensive than having a custom home plan made.  I'll post my results.

 Thanks,

Woody

Daggerhart,

I was able to find a few homes with some interesting possibilites.  They would require some modifications, but they would be small.  The three houses are DB-9199, ADI 30-561, and HPG-2401B.  Just copy those names into the plan number search box on our home page.  Call me at (866) 787-2023 and I can explain what I was thinking.

Thanks,
