How do you find the plan you really want?

Hi there,

I am looking for specific things in a house plan.  I have come close to finding what I want on the internet, but each one I find is usually lacking something I really want.  We plan to live in this house for the rest of our lives so we don't want to compromise too much.  I want a cute looking house with 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, a formal dining room, kitchen with a breakfast room and keeping/hearth room, walk in pantry, a laundry room large enough that my ironing board can stay  up all the time AND that does not pass from the garage to another room, a grilling porch/ outdoor kitchen all this should be under 2000 square feet on one floor because we also want a walk out basement we can finish later. The stairs to the attic and to the basement should be in the same area.  No pull down stairs to the attic. I don't know if this exists.  If you know of such a plan please let me know.  Thanks, Anna

Annabanana,

I'd say that you might not ever find a house plan that is 100% what you want. I would find the one that is mostly there, then purchase the CAD file and have it modified to be just what you want. Often the architect or designer will modify the plan for you, or you can have this done locally which is sometimes less expensive and faster.
